The EU
have capitulated to the USA and agreed to approve the
growing of crops, none of which have been approved by any independent
scientific establishment, and despite the fact that they will also contaminate
almost every other crop.
On May 13, 2003, the day the U.S. filed a lawsuit with the World Trade
Organization (WTO), claiming that the European Union’s restrictive policy on GM
food violates international agreements; U.S. Trade Representative Robert
Zoellick declared, “Overwhelming scientific research shows that biotech foods
are safe and healthy.”
This statement is blatantly
untrue. No GM Food has been scientifically proven safe, and many scientists
believe that the reverse is true.
Will the contamination of natural foods by these genetically altered hybrid
monstrosities make Monsanto and othe GM food companies billions of dollars, and allow the USA to control the world’s food
supplies?
For Monsanto
and other companies patent their genetic modification of food and
their research, so they could, theoretically try to make farmers pay a licence fee to reproduce crops
containing the patented modifications:(even though it was the result of unwanted contamination), and the seeds of contaminated crops
will almost certainly carry the modified genes too.
Europe is sleepwalking into a situation that could result in it paying the USA billions of dollars - to plant
their own seeds.
